story
When I tell you this is my dream store . . . I’m not lying. Over the holiday season of 2019 I had two consecutive dreams where I opened a store, a plant store, called oak. If you know me at all, you know I don’t ignore my dreams . . . and so, over the holidays, while away visiting family, I started looking at real estate online and contacted my realtor. I started day-dreaming of how a plant store could possibly work in Bloomington, and what else we could carry. The next week my realtor had a space for me to look at (which he happened to own), and the next week the ATL Market was happening and I knew I had to be on that bus (figuratively speaking). And so, off my bff and I went to ATL to buy all things plant-related and get this ball rolling. Upon my return, negotiations for the our brick & mortar continued and then, in early February, I signed the lease for what will be the future home of oak.
Oak. will primarily be indoor tropicals of every possible variety. My right hand, Alex (from Gather) will be managing the store. We’ll also carry a large assortment of pots and planters and, of course, beautifully hand-crafted, botanical related gift items (staying true to our Gather roots). We will host a few growing related classes and workshops once we get settled in our new space. And we have the best porch and little itty bitty yard!!
I can’t wait to continue writing the story of oak. with all of you!
So, I give you.
oak.
deep roots. new leaves.
